Nordic Audio Labs – NU314K

Beschrijving

Voor dit ontwerp ging Martin Kantola helemaal terug naar het begin van microfoondesign. Net als bij de NU24 overigens. De Nu-314K is een compleet unieke benadering met een combi van de natuurlijke eigenschappen van grootmembraan microfoons en van de “true pressure transducer”. De capsule is one-of-a kind en net als die van de NU24 volledig uniek. Geen nabootsing van een klassiek capsule dus. Het resultaat is een microfoon met een zeer organisch verlopende (en klinkende) hoog boost. Maar wel met een focus en detailrijkdom die menig groot membraan voorbij streeft.

Dit is een typische omni microfoon voor een stereo of decca-tree set up waarbij hoge resolutie en een lage ruisvloer gewenst zijn. Maar de 314 is veel breder inzetbaar dan dat. Vocal opname en instrument op zeer korte afstand zijn bijvoorbeeld ook voorbeelden van waar de 314 schittert.

De Nu-314K word geleverd als enkele microfoon, stereo paar (matched) of zelfs als set van 5 of 6 met “supermatches” capsules.

Going back to the very roots of the condenser microphone design, the NU-314K is a completely unique approach. It explores the natural properties of the popular large diaphragm capsule, but as a true pressure transducer. The capsule construction itself is also one of a kind, to our knowledge never attempted before in the history of microphone making. The result is special microphone with a highly desireable and organic high frequency boost and focus, as well as a capacity to capture transients and detail which even puts many SDC microphones to shame.

It’s the obvious candidate for any stereo or Decca tree setup where resolution and musical beauty combined with reliability and low self noise is key, but has a much wider application range as any LDC would. This includes vocal and instrument recording at close distance.

The NU-314K is delivered as a single microphone, a selected pair or triplet or in special cases even 5-6 microphones, all with supermatched capsules.
